Andrew C. Mallor Inducted into Maurer School of Law Academy of Law Alumni Fellows

Andrew C. Mallor has been chosen to receive the highest honor bestowed by the Indiana University Maurer School of Law when he is inducted, along with four others, into the Academy of Law Alumni Fellows (“ALAF”), on Friday, April 8, 2022. The ALAF comprises the Law School’s most distinguished alumni, recognizing those who have distinguished themselves in their careers through personal achievements and dedication to the highest standards of the legal profession.

Andy is a Founding Partner of Mallor Grodner LLP. He specializes in family law and estate planning and has received numerous statewide and national awards for his professional achievements. He is a member of the Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and a Diplomate of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers, an honor bestowed on only the top 100 family law attorneys nationally. Andy is the only ACFTL Diplomate ever honored from the State of Indiana.

Andy is committed to serving his fellow practitioners and advancing the practice of family law through continuing legal education and collaborative practice. Throughout his career he has mentored hundreds of family law attorneys and mediators. He was one of the driving forces behind the ISBA adopting family law as a recognized specialty and, as the original co-chair, was actively involved in developing the exam and qualifications required for the Family Law Specialist designation. Andy founded and directs the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum’s annual Family Law Institute, now entering its 20th year. In 2015, he received the Excellence in Continuing Legal Education from ICLEF. In 2007, Andy was honored with the Gale Phelps Award, which recognizes an attorney who has worked to elevate the standards of professionalism in the area of family law by demonstrating exceptional service to the profession, holding the highest level of competence, raising the level of professionalism and civility in domestic relations matters, and exhibiting high moral character and ethical standards.

Service to the community is another of Andy’s long-standing commitments. As an undergraduate at IU, Andy played a key role in setting into motion the establishment of one of the oldest, largest, and most comprehensive programs of its kind, Indiana University’s Borns Jewish Studies Program. He continues to lead the program in significant ways, including leadership of the Advisory Board, strategic planning, and fundraising. Andy’s involvement in the Bloomington community, particularly the arts, has been a mainstay of his life and also a commitment of his firm.

In 1994, with his law practice thriving, Andy started a men’s retail store, now known as Andrew Davis Menswear. For over a decade, those in law knew very little about his retail career as an owner, buyer, and marketing principal, and very few in retail knew about his career in law. He loves both jobs.

Andy is married to his IU college sweetheart and fellow Maurer graduate, Jane, who is a Professor Emeritus of Business Law and Ethics at the Kelley School of Business. They have two daughters and two grandsons, sadly for them, all living in Los Angeles.

The attorneys and staff at Mallor Grodner congratulate Andy on this significant honor and are honored to work with him every day. Contact Andrew C. Mallor in our Bloomington office, at (812) 332-5000, or our Indianapolis office, at (317) 453-2000.
